Insignificant Beings

Let this Summer be a reminder,
Of how,
We, the Humans, live at the mercy of the outside weather,
The clouds of the day decide if our mood is going to be any better.
Of how,
We plan our trips and detail our ceremonies in perfect ways,
with a helpless hope that nature decorates itself well on those days.
Of how,
We schedule our happiness and fill up our memory pages,
based on temperature predictions and rain forecast percentages.
Of how,
We dream of building free cities with independent arches,
depending on the sunshine to organize our freedom marches.
Of how,
We have to wait everyday until the weather allows us to rejoice,
Our vacation calendars are paralyzed, leaving us no choice.
Of how,
We escape the winter blues of every year with sulking moments of anxiety,
but enjoy the limited seasons of joy with an unlimited sense of superiority.
Of how,
We are too ‘evolved’ to listen to winds which bush past our ears,
reminding us everyday of our humility and fears.
Of how,
We never stop to ponder but hit straight to the beach to build sand castles and rockets,
walking on the shores of water with naked feet and delusions of grandeur in our pockets.

Let this Summer be a reminder,
Of how,
We, the Humans, are Insignificant beings.
We are weak and we are powerless.
We get only what the nature gives us.
Not a single laugh more.
Not a single cry less.
